Nursing is a service profession that cannot be lived in isolation. 

Nurses rely on each other for the synergistic effect of teamwork in our efforts of caregiving.

It is appropriate that we honor our colleagues, not only during their career, but also at the end of life’s journey.


Volunteer Membership Basics:

The Kern County Nurse Honor Guard is open to all nurses active or inactive who are in good standing.

Membership Dues are $50 Annually.

Members are to adhere to the bylaws and professional norms.

Uniform Requirements:

  1. White scrubs (pants/top, Skirt/top, or dress)

  2. Purchase of a Cape (Women) or Blazer (Men) $70.00

  3. Purchase of a nursing cap (Women only) $5

    The Kern County Nurse Honor Guard recognizes those individuals who have dedicated their lives to the profession of Nursing. The purpose of this organization is to provide comfort to the loved ones while letting them and the community know the value of each nurse we honor. We consider it a privilege to participate in the funeral or memorial services of fellow nurses and to celebrate their years of service to the profession.

    Active and retired nurses volunteer their time to honor the individuals and the professional community of nursing. We desire nurses from all fields of nursing to join this movement so that every nurse receives the honor they deserve for their dedication and selfless service at the end of their life journey.
